GUIDO MARTINOTTI
Guido Martinotti is a professor of Urban Sociology at the 'Università degli Studi" in Milan where he was director of the sociology department from 1989 to 1992. Since 1986 he has been an annual visiting professor at the Department of Sociology of California in Santa Barbara. From 1975 to 1981 he was a member of the board of the Institute of Education of the "Fondation Europeenne de la Culture". He was a member of the working group presided by Minister Antonio Ruberti for the drawing up of the three-year development plan for the Italian universities, 1991-1993, and of the Ministerial Commission for the Three-Year Plan 1994-1996 presided by Minister Umberto Colombo.
From 1990 to 1994 he represented Italy on the Technical Committee, Social Sciences of the "Cooperation europeenne dans le domaine de la recherche scientifique et technique" and from 1991 to 1994 was a member of the Research Support Scheme of the Central European University of Prague. He was a founding member and vice-president (from 1991 to 1994) of the European Consortium for Sociological Research. Since 1992 he has been Chairman of the Standing Committee for the Social Sciences of the European Sciences Foundation and since 1994 member of the Bureau of the European Science and Technology Assembly. He has been vice-president of ISAP (Istituto per la Scienza dell'Amministrazione Pubblica) in Milan since 1996.
