JOHN THACKARA
John Thackara is renowned internationally for his work as Director of the design futures network, Doors of Perception. Doors connects together a worldwide network of paradigm-changing designers, technology innovators, and grassroots innovators. Thackara creates projects and festivals in which designers, together with grassroots innovators and other citizens, develop new services and products for daily life. The Doors community meets every two years in India to exchange experiences. John has lectured in more than 40 countries and is the author of 12 books, of which the latest is "In The Bubble: Designing In A Complex World". John is currently Creative Director of a new UK biennial, Designs of the time (Dott 07). Dott 07 asks, what might life in a sustainable region be like? and what design steps are needed to get us from here, to there? These two questions inspire the Dott 07 Festival which takes place in October.
